New Orleans schools survive Gustav with little damage

Schools will open next week if electricity is restored.

New Orleans public school campuses survived Hurricane Gustav with broken tree limbs and windows and minor roof damage, officials say. Apart from a few repairs, the buildings need electricity to reopen next week. The damage caused by Gustav was considerably less serious than the flooding and destruction Hurricane Katrina brought three years ago.
