Many damaged school facilities remain in limbo

From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: Some of the most haunting reminders of the disparities in the pace of recovery in New Orleans can be found in the city's empty school buildings, a number of which remain in limbo as school officials negotiate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency about damage levels. In the meantime, as the district embarks on an unprecedented rebuilding program, dozens of other schools sit largely untouched, festering.
