New security chief in Philadelphia district

25-year veteran of city police is chosen

From The Philadelphia Inquirer: The Philadelphia School District's new security chief is a veteran officer indefinitely on loan from the city's Police Department. Chief Inspector Myron Patterson, a 25-year veteran, was selected by Superintendent Arlene Ackerman.


Earlier...from The Philadelphia Inquirer: James B. Golden Jr., the Philadelphia School District's chief safety official, has resigned. Golden, a former Philadelphia police captain who had held his post for more than five years under three superintendents, was said to have felt ignored when Superintendent Arlene Ackerman did not consult him on the decision to pull eight security officers out of South Philadelphia High School last school year after racial unrest there.
