$185 million plan calls for overhaul of campus in Winnetka

From The Chicago Tribune: The New Trier (Ill.) school district has unveiled plans for a $185 million expansion and renovation of its high school campus in Winnetka. The overhaul would include a new field house, cafeteria, library and classrooms. The proposal focuses on some of the oldest parts of the school, including a cafeteria built in 1912 and a technology arts building from 1931, both of which would be torn down and replaced. The New Trier Township School District 203 school board needs to approve the plan and decide whether to submit it to voters in February.

FROM MAY 2008: At New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., features that are considered historic and charming by some are academically outdated to others. New Trier's School Board is to decide next fall whether to rehab, raze or rebuild parts of the campus. District officials say all options are on the table.
