New York City school administrator picked to lead Louisiana Recovery District

From The New York Times: John White, a deputy chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, will resign to oversee struggling schools in Louisiana. If approved by a Louisiana state board on Friday, Mr. White, 35, would replace Paul G. Vallas as superintendent of the state-run Recovery School District, which manages 82 low-performing schools, primarily in New Orleans. White's resignation is the latest in a series of high-level departures from the department since the appointment of Schools Chancellor Cathleen P. Black late last year.
