New York City to expand pre-kindergarten offerings

Sept. 25, 2012
Plans call for adding 4,000 pre-K slots to the 16,000 already available

From The New York Daily News: New York City will add 4,000 new full-day pre-kindergarten slots in the next school year as part of a push to expand early childhood education. The new seats will add to the 16,000 now available, and school district officials hope the additions will help ease the often fierce competition for placement. The new seats will be offered in needy areas where student achievement and participation in pre-K programs are low.
