New Jersey authorizes 6 new charter schools

Six new charter schools have been approved to open in New Jersey in 2009, state officials say. The latest approvals are an increase from last year, when just one new charter school was approved by state Education Commissioner Lucille Davy. With the new approvals, there are now 68 independently run public schools in New Jersey.
