Historic wall comes down in stadium renovation

The North Kansas City (Mo.) district is building a 7,800-square-foot locker room as part of a $3 million renovation of the football stadium at North Kansas City High School. The project calls for tearing down a limestone wall that was built in 1939 as a Works Progress Administration project to help revive the economy during the Great Depression. Officials say the wall will be rebuilt, partly with salvageable stones from the razed wall. The architect is Williams, Spurgeon, Kuhl & Freshnock Architects.
