Obama administration is expected to seek more stringent education standards

From The New York Times: As it looks to revamp elements of the No Child Left Behind education reform law, the Obama administration is expected to toughen requirements on topics such teacher quality and academic standards, and to intensify its focus on helping failing schools. The law’s testing requirements may evolve but will not disappear. And the federal role in education policy, once a state and local matter, is likely to grow.
