School system eliminates recess on elementary campuses

From The Providence Journal: Elementary school recess, the children’s version of adult coffee breaks, has essentially been eliminated in the East Providence (R.I.) district. When school starts on Sept. 8, teachers can give their students a break from instruction to re-focus, stretch or participate in supervised physical activities. But they no longer will get 10 minutes before or after lunch to play.
