Former governor's wife fired from position at North Carolina State University

From The Raleigh News & Observer: North Carolina State University Chancellor James L. Oblinger has resigned and Mary Easley, wife of the former governor, has been fired from her university position as more details have emerged over how Easley was hired. They join two earlier casualties: the provost who hired Easley, Larry Nielsen; and McQueen Campbell, the trustees' chairman and Easley family friend who suggested the idea to Oblinger. Both stepped down last month. University trustees say it's not clear whether anything illegal occurred. Oblinger's resignation came minutes before the university released documents showing that he had conferred with Campbell and members of then-Gov. Mike Easley's staff to secure a job for Mary Easley in 2005.
