New Orleans Recovery district makes transition to stable administration

An analysis of contracts in the Recovery School District in New Orleans illustrates the transformation of the district in the past year. The leadership has evolved from a crisis-mode band of experts--pulled together largely by new superintendent Paul Vallas and paid between $1,200 and $2,000 a day--to a more stable administration that gradually is starting to resemble a more conventional school district central office.
