Minority students and faculty decry deteriorating racial climate at University of Northern Colorado

A group of minority students and faculty at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley contend that the racial climate at the school is deteriorating. The critics assert that university president Kay Norton, who began her tenure in July 2002, has either ignored or barely responded to complaints from minority staff and students. Norton agrees that more needs to be done to help racial minorities at the university succeed, and she says the school has begun several programs aimed at breaking down racial walls.
