New York district seeks funds for athletic facilities

TheNorthport-East Northport (N.Y.) school district is seeking approval on Nov. 18 of an $8.19-million bond proposal. It would pay for renovating some of the district's athletic facilities and fields. An earlier $8.9 million proposal was defeated in June by 39 votes. The bonds would pay for installation of synthetic turf fields, which the district says would be safe, along with new running tracks, bleachers, a press box and concession stand; and updating irrigation, drainage, lighting and fencing systems. The bond would also fund new goal posts, high- and long-jump event areas, a batting cage and pole vault event area. To read the Newsday article, click here.
