Combined with earlier cuts, San Antonio-based district has eliminated 973 jobs

From The San Antonio Express-News: The school board of the Northside (Texas) Independent School District in San Antonio has approved cuts of $43.8 million to next year’s budget, eliminating 705 positions. Between those and an earlier batch in February, the cuts total more than $61.4 million and 973 positions from this and next year’s budgets. Through attrition, displaced employees will be given other district positions, staffers said. The cuts are equivalent to nearly 8.5 percent of this year’s general fund budget.
