Two private high schools plan to open in Lower Manhattan

Greenwich Village High is one of two new high schools opening in Lower Manhattan next year as demand for seats in private schools has continued to increase across New York City despite the faltering economy and layoffs on Wall Street. In the financial district, Claremont Preparatory School, which has 500 students in preschool through eighth grade, will expand with a $25 million high school equipped with science labs, a theater and a full-size basketball court that will eventually have 500 students as well.
