The Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) will provide all of its 3rd

12th grade classes with internet-laptops. OUSD partnered with Dell to provide Chromebooks to the classrooms in order to provide “equitable access to technology, support personalized learning and meet online testing requirements set by California’s state standards,” the district said in a press release.

“We began this initiative with an ambitious goal—give all students access to a reliable wireless device,” Dr. Gary Yee, Superintendent, OUSD said. “Now, we not only meet the state requirements for online assessment but we are enabling our teachers to personalize learning so students will graduate ready for success in college, career and their communities.”

OUSD partnered with Dell to ensure that its students are prepared for the new California required state testing standards. The standards require that students in grades 3-8 and 11 complete a field test. The field tests are required to use devices that meet minimum hardware specifications to ensure that all districts have the needed infrastructure to support the tests.
