Oceanside ready to open new middle school

Chavez Middle will be able to accommodate 1,400 students.

Chavez Middle School in Oceanside, Calif., is scheduled to open its doors Monday to 774 sixth-, seventh-and eighth-graders. The $34 million campus, which can accommodate up to 1,400 students, was built to eliminate crowding at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.
