Oklahoma district loses $480,000 because of someone else's paperwork error

From The Daily Oklahoman: A paperwork error has cost an Oklahoma school district $480,000, or about 25 percent of its annual budget, leaving the superintendent struggling to make payroll. The Mountain View-Gotebo district was notified in April that it would not receive $480,000 because a legally required form was not filed by a June 15, 2010, deadline. The 240-student district is supposed to receive reimbursement for a tax exemption given to a company. The Kiowa County Assessor's Office is supposed to get the form to the Oklahoma Tax Commission Ad Valorem office, but either the assessor failed to turn in the proper form, or the Tax Commission lost or misplaced it.
