Orleans Parish drops free buses for charters

School board says it can't afford service.

The Orleans Parish (La.) School Board is ending free transportation services for charter school students, according to a letter distributed to parents. The letter states that the board does not have a legal obligation to provide free school bus transportation to charter school students and that it does not have the financial resources to continue providing the service.
