Group will recruit and train 40 school principals in New Orleans

A national nonprofit organization headed by a former education adviser to President Clinton will recruit and train 40 school principals in New Orleans in the next four years. New Leaders for New Schools, an organization based in New York that has placed 230 principals and assistant principals in six cities nationwide and is training another 100, is backed by $4 million in donations, including $2 million from Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates' philanthropic foundation. Jon Schnur, founder and CEO of the organization, was special assistant to former U.S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley and was Clinton's associate director for education policy.
