District wants fewer students in alternative education

The Palm Beach County (Fla.) School District will close three alternative schools in June: Gateway High in Boynton Beach; Educational Resource Center at the Palm Beach Mall in West Palm Beach; and a behavior intervention program called South Elementary Transition at Delray Full Service Center. For the 2008-09 school year, the district plans to operate three alternative schools offering an academic focus and five alternative schools providing behavior programs for the most disruptive students.
