ACLU sues Florida district over poor graduation rates
Mar 19, 2008 12:28 PM
The American Civil Liberties Union has sued the Palm Beach County (Fla.)
school district, contending that the district's low graduation rate demonstrates
a violation of students' constitutional right to an adequate
education.
The ACLU contends that at least one in three students don't graduate on time,
worse than state and national averages. And it cites a "significant
disparity" between the local graduation rates of white students and their
black and Hispanic peers.
