Voters in Palm Springs (Calif.) district to decide on $516 million request

The Palm Springs (Calif.) Unified School District is seeking approval on Feb. 5 of a $516 million bond proposal. The money would enable the district to build additions to replace portable classrooms and to build new elementary, middle, and high schools in the Cathedral City and Desert Hot Springs areas. The district has more than 24,000 students, an increase of more than 33 percent in the past 11 years. In addition, the district is projected to have more than 30,000 students by 2013.
