Parents, administrators spar over cell-tower revenue

The San Juan (Calif.) Unified School District and some of its parent groups are squabbling over fees that cell phone companies pay to keep towers on school campuses. Last school year, the district collected more than $320,000 for towers on six high school campuses and two other pieces of district property. The money from the towers used to go directly to the schools that had the towers, but the district stopped giving the money to the schools in June 2005. Now, parent booster clubs from the individual schools want the money back.
