Parents asked to provide more student supplies

From The Detroit News: Cash-strapped schools in Michigan are asking parents to pick up more of the cost of keeping classrooms stocked. From flash drives to hand sanitizer to tissue, the requested materials often take parents well beyond the office supply aisle. By law, public schools cannot require children to provide their own supplies. The school must stock everything a child needs, but most schools have a suggested supplies list, sometimes available online, sometimes sent home with the child on the first day of school.
