Pasco County (Fla.) district looks at upgrading open-classsroom schools

From The Tampa Tribune: In Pasco County, Fla., where a population boom in the 1970s fueled the need for more schools, the district built three high schools, one middle school and five elementary schools that used a windowless, open-classroom design. That approach was popular throughout the country at the time, but before long, districts began to question whether the designs were such a keen idea. Now the Pasco board is seeing a need for major remodeling at the nine schools, which aren't up to building codes and don't mesh well with modern academic needs.
