The chief of security for Prince George's County (Md.) public schools, whose management and reporting of disciplinary incidents and crime are under investigation, has resigned. Russell P. Tedesco cited personal and family reasons for stepping down. School board members are investigating whether the security department has been accurately reporting security data and are examining a situation in which Tedesco worked in the same department as his wife.

EARLIER: The Prince George's County (Md.) school system is investigating whether its security department is accurately reporting the crime and disciplinary actions that occur in its schools. The system's internal affairs unit is conducting an audit to determine whether statistics tracking incidents involving fighting, weapons, drugs and other offenses are being reported accurately.
