Plans for new Elyria (Ohio) high school move forward

New campus is expected to open in 2011

The Elyria (Ohio) school district is planning to build a new high school campus that would be completed in 2011. Most of the existing campus will be demolished. The new school will have a 16,000-square-foot main gymnasium. a media center, with 20-feet high ceilings, performing arts center with a two-story, glass-encased atrium and 800-seat auditorium, a main administration building, a large, landscaped courtyard, and an academic area. The streets around the building will include bike paths and dozens of parking spaces will be set aside for fuel-efficient vehicles. The biggest “green” initiative will be the more than 400 geothermal wells that will regulate the school’s heating and cooling. The architect is Architectural Vision Group.
