Campus officers at Estrella Mountain Community College now will carry handguns

Campus police will be armed for the first time when students return to classes at Estrella Mountain Community College in Avondale, Ariz. The campus' five law-enforcement officers are carrying .40-caliber Glock 22 handguns issued by the Maricopa County Community College District, giving them the tools to handle immediate threats. A state law now requires sworn officers to carry guns. Previously, the decision was left to each community college district.
