Polk County, Fla., allocates funds for university campus

$5 million will go to University of South Florida's Lakeland campus.

The Polk County, Fla., Commission has agreed to give the school $5 million for the new University of South Florida campus in Lakeland. Marshall Goodman, USF Lakeland vice president, wants the school to become a polytechnic university that he says would cement the Interstate 4 high-tech corridor and bring good jobs to Polk County.
