Pontiac (Mich.) district works to address falling enrollment

The Pontiac (Mich.) School District is headed for an overhaul to deal with dwindling enrollment, but some things will remain the same. The school board has voted to stick with K-6 as elementary schools, grades 7 and 8 in middle schools and grades 9 through 12 in high school. Ninth-graders will remain separated in an academy within one of the high schools. Officials say the district can no longer afford to operate a system designed for 20,000 students when enrollment now is closer to 7,000.
