Students at Shimer College object to trustees' attempts to assert more authority
From The Chicago Tribune: Shimer College in Chicago has just 102 students and 11 full-time professors. A liberal arts school, it resides entirely within the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in four rented classrooms. Its latest crisis is an unusual power struggle over how the school is governed, stemming from an attempt to alter an unorthodox, egalitarian system in which the vote of a lowly freshman weighs the same as that of a well-heeled trustee.
