Investment in early childhood programs leads to reduced need for intervention in later years
From The Detroit News: Michigan's 25-year investment in early childhood education translates to about $1.15 billion in savings annually because students in preschool require less academic and social help as they get older, according to a study commissioned by the Early Childhood Investment Corp. The study calculated the savings to taxpayers of children who attend preschool after studies have shown they are less likely to repeat grades, require extra academic services, or end up in the juvenile justice system or adult prisons.
