Private school founded by Will Smith draws controversy

School in Calabasas, Calif., plans to use teaching methods developed by founder of Scientology
The planned Sept. 3 opening of New Village Academy, a private school on the leased campus of a former school in Calabasas, Calif., will be accompanied by a whiff of controversy. Some of its teachers are members of the Church of Scientology, and it will use teaching methods developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. The founders of the school are actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who say they are not Scientologists.To read The Los Angeles Times article, click here.
