Private school in Brooklyn shares building with probation office

A Brooklyn, N.Y., private school, outgrowing its building, has rented space in a nearby office tower for four classrooms and a computer lab. A federal probation office has taken out a $30 million, 10-year lease in the very same office tower, starting this month. Parents were alarmed. Elected officials were enlisted, and, this week, Raymond J. Dearie, chief judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, has promised to try to limit interaction between students and the probation office, says said the cohabitation will likely continue.
