Record school construction in St. Lucie County, Fla.

Two new schools and one remodeled facility will open later this year; more on the way in 2008

St. Lucie County (Fla.) district officials are on time and on budget this year to open two new schools and unveil a third that's been completely overhauled — the most opening simultaneously in the district's history. It should be good practice for fall 2008 when district leaders again unveil three new schools. Those include: a charter laboratory facility inside the Tradition development, a new but still unnamed K-8 school and a revamped Fort Pierce Central High under construction
