Seven new charter school proposals seek funding in Rhode Island

From The Providence Journal: Proposals in Rhode Island for seven new charter schools and the expansion of an existing one are competing for limited resources. The governor's proposed 2009-10 budget includes $1.5 million for new charter schools. The governor initially earmarked the funds for two charter proposals, but subsequently decided to have the Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education, determine which schools are ready.
