Rochester, Minn., gets funds for new elementary

The Rochester (Minn.) School District has won approval of a $17.4 million bond package that will pay for a new elementary school. The new building will be able to accommodate 650 students. Groundbreaking is expected to take place next June, and completion is slated for the 2009-2010 school year. School officials say the district will grow by 700 students from 2009 to 2012.
