Minnesota elementary receives LEED gold certification

From The Mankato Free Press: Rosa Parks Elementary School in Mankato, Minn., has received LEED gold certification for its environmentally friendly design and construction. The $21 million building opened in fall 2010. The sustainable features of the facility include a ground-source heat-pump system for heating and cooling the school, occupancy sensors for lighting, water-saving fixtures and landscape methods, and many strategies to maintain good indoor air quality. The architect is Paulsen Architects.
