False applications at Chicago magnet schools raise questions

The head of a government watchdog group says that applications to magnet
schools in Chicago should be audited following revelations that parents
tried to get their kids into one magnet school by falsely claiming they had a
child already enrolled there. At least 12 applicants falsely claimed to have
"siblings'' at Sabin Magnet Elementary School. The school's principal
discovered the false information before admissions were decided, and district
officials say it was an isolated incident.
