Sacramento State University opens fitness center

Aug. 24, 2010
$71 million facility built with student fees

From The Sacramento Bee: Sacramento State University students who work out at a new fitness center opening next week can choose from a two-story rock-climbing wall, gleaming studios for yoga, karate and Pilates, or stationary bicycles that include a computerized "ride" through forests or along the coast. No public funds went into building the $71 million facility, dubbed The Well. Construction and equipment were paid for with fees students levied on themselves in 2004, now totaling $118 per semester.
