San Diego sees signs of enrollment upturn

Decline in student numbers is smallest in years

After six years of seeing its enrollment dwindle by the thousands, the San Diego Unified School District is seeing signs of an upturn. New statistics indicate that this year's decline at district-run schools is the smallest this decade: A drop of about 200 in kindergarten through 12th grade, whereas losses averaged a few thousand in the past.
