New Salt Lake middle school emphasizes daylighting

The Salt Lake City school district has opened a new Glendale Middle School. The $16 million facility is designed to allow ample amounts of natural light into the learning spaces. Light shelves outside windows bounce daylight into classrooms and shade students from the direct glare of the sun. All the main classrooms are on the perimeter of the building to take advantage of light and views. The architect is GSBS Architects.
