Spearfish (S.D.) district decides to build new elementary

Existing East Elementary School is 80 years old.

The Spearfish (S.D.) school board is planning to build a new elementary building to replace East Elementary. For the last 10 years, the district has considered renovating East Elementary because several aspects of the building, which is 80 years old, are “unsuitable” for an education facility. Renovating would cost $7 millionbuilding a new facility would cost $8.5 million. The architect is Williams and Associates.
