From The St. Louis Post-Dispatch: St. Louis schools Superintendent Kelvin Adams has proposed closing Beaumont Highover three years and opening Sumner High as a charter school in 2012. The changes are part of a proposed $283.5 million budget for next school year that would involve cuts at every school. The spending plan calls for slightly larger class sizes, 108 fewer teachers and fewer field trips. There would be 34 fewer custodians to keep schools clean. Three schools — Bunche International Studies Middle, Stevens Middle and Big Picture Academy — would close.
