System needs to deal with $25 million shortfall for 2009-10
St. Paul (Minn.) Public Schools would shed an estimated 265 staff positions under a plan presented to school board members to deal with an estimated $25 million shortfall for the 2009-10 school year. Board members approved the administration's plan as a first step in a process that will culminate with a budget vote in June. The largest piece of the $25 million trim would be a cut of $10 million in direct allocations to schools. To read The St. Paul Pioneer Press article, click here.
