News release: St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Fla., has received gold LEED certification for its new Student Services Building on the St. Petersburg/Gibbs campus.
The building's sustainable features include "Energy Star" product
specification, and a large, energy-efficient industrial ceiling fan to
help cool the building. Green cleaning products are used to maintain
the space, and permanent entryway systems capture dirt and
particulates. Reflective roofing and paving materials result in cooler
surfaces. The building is expected to use 40 percent less water than a
comparable building by using low-flow fixtures, dual-flush toilets and
waterless urinals. The architect is Canerday, Belfsky + Arroyo, Architects.
