A St. Charles (Mo.) School District committee says it is unlikely that enrollment will decrease enough to require a merger of the district's two high schools. The committee is recommending that St. Charles and St. Charles West high schools stay open. Declining enrollment and tight finances prompted a reorganization in 2007 that resulted in the closing of two elementary schools.
