Pasco County (Fla.) closes schools because of tropical storm

Pasco County (Fla.) schools are closed Tuesday because of Tropical Storm Fay. Superintendent Heather Fiorentino tried to find a way to keep classes running, postponing the decision to shut the district down until late Monday. But after the National Hurricane Center's 5 p.m. update gave no indication that Fay would veer far enough east to miss the county, she and others at the Pasco emergency operations center sent out word that students should stay home today.
